Rockstar return with the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto IV - You play Nico Bellic, an ex-Russian army type who is fresh of the boat from Europe. Nico’s cousin, Roman, has tempted Nico into coming to America by boasting (lying) about how wealthy and well-known he is; since coming to Liberty City. Roman tells Nico that he believes it is the ‘Land of Opportunity’ for them both to achieve their simple dreams and maybe escape their past.
Gameplay:
On foot, the player's character is capable of walking, running, swimming, climbing and jumping, as well as using weapons and basic hand-to-hand combat. You will meet a variety of contacts during the game who give you missions and pay quit a bit for your services, some of these contacts can become your friends if you go out drinking or playing darts or bowling with them. These friends come to your aid in many ways; like providing a couple of goons to fight along-side you or supplying you with cheap weapons. Some will even give you some very expensive cars to keep.
There are many varied vehicles in the game such as; cars, motorbikes, trucks, everyday public service vehicles and helicopters – these are all available for ‘grand theft’ by Nico at any time of the day and in any part of the 4 huge islands that make up Liberty City. Stealing leads me nicely onto…
The Cops:
Liberty City’s finest are rather more intelligent than in previous GTA episodes. In this game, when they are chasing you (because you accidentally punched an old lady in the face and then stole her car so you could deliver some drugs to a waiting mob of greasy bikers!) they will often use cunning means to apprehend you such as commandeering a civilians vehicle, using air-support (military or otherwise) or even using the stairs in most buildings to get to you where you are hiding.
As there are way too many aspects of this game to fit in here, I thought I would just write this little teaser for anyone who is thinking of purchasing this game. If complete destruction and chaotic mayhem is your thing, you will want to purchase this game. It Is Huge! The best sand-box type game in existence (imho). Enjoy!
